The Motto: Blessed are the paecemakers; for they shall be called the child of God -Matthew 5:9

Oregon County is located in south-central Missouri in the United States, and consists of a 792 square mile area. As of the 2010 U.S. Census, the county's population was 10,881. Its county seat is Alton. The county was officially organized on February 14, 1845, and was named for the Oregon Territory in the northwestern United States.

Home to a large area of the Mark Twain National Forest, Oregon County contains more National Forest land (approx. 105,000 acres) than any other county in Missouri. It also contains the Irish Wilderness, the largest federally protected wilderness area in the state. Hiking and backpacking opportunities abound on the Ozark Trail and the White's Creek Trail. Canoeing and fishing are popular on the Eleven Point River, which is Missouri's only National Wild and Scenic River. Grand Gulf State Park is a Missouri state park just west of Thayer, which includes a collapsed karst canyon.

The Oregon County Sheriff's Office is dedicated to protect and serve the citizens and communities of Oregon County.  While providing the highest degree of law enforcement, we strive to serve Oregon County by earning the public trust and respect while maintaining integrity, respect, professionalism, compassion, good character, and commitment to our job.
